As a family, we love being outdoors, so we often go for long walks and bike …

Stretch & Strengthen !

Last night was amazing!! I led a workout for the London Midnight Runners & the UK Lorna Jane Active girls. The workout was a combination of body weight exercises, strengthening & stretches. Many runners will admit that they spend hours pounding the pavement, but they often skip their cool down & stretches. It’s so important to give those legs some post workout TLC. I always incorporate a lot of stretching & strength training with all of my clients and also in my own workouts. It’s a brilliant way to tone and sculpt the muscles. You may be thinking it sounds easy, but it is one intense workout! Last night we met in Hyde Park at 7.30pm, it was a little cloudy and I’m sure that I felt a few drops of rain, but that wasn’t gonna stop us! As I turned up the music on our UE MegaBoom speakers I couldn’t believe how many people were lining up and getting ready to workout. I think the key to staying active is to find something that …

London Midnight Runners

Excitement overload!! I am super happy to be joining the London Midnight Runners crew. If you love to run, jump, move, dance and party, then you need to join us too. Next Saturday we will be running a 10k route through the capital at night. The views along the way are breathtaking and our running soundtrack is powered by UE Megaboom wireless speakers. As a midnight runners captain, I will be leading some dance style workout moves along the way. It’s not a race, so you don’t need to worry about the pace or the time, no one gets left behind. The London Midnight Runners also meet to train mid-week at 8pm and at weekends too. For more info head to the official site or check us out on Facebook. I’m looking forward to seeing the team tomorrow night, along with some new faces too. Let’s go! Follow The London Midnight Runners on Instagam

Training with Alexandra – Week 2

A few words from Alex about week 2 of training with me. . . Session 2 We start by running for a few minutes to warm up and then head back to my gorgeous, sunny garden for more pain enduring (I mean toning) exercises A blend of cardio exercises, cardio with weights, weights alone and some serious strength, thigh wobbling yoga style poses. I could feel every part of my body working and today, I am feeling it all over (ouch!) As they say, no pain, no gain! Session 3 My third session was yesterday morning and already I’m well into the swing, albeit still a little (very) stiff but I can certainly tolerate more. Best of all, I’m seeing more tone in my tummy already!! Eating well is a lot easier than I had first thought & putting junk food in my mouth doesn’t make much sense although I did devour a few after eights last night- oops! This morning my bodies feeling tight and my arse cheeks and waistline are satisfyingly aching. I …

Get Fit For Free !

Often there is an assumption that living well costs a lot. Weekly pilates classes, super food salads and organic face oils all come with a price tag. Of course we don’t have to spend a lot of cash to live a healthy lifestyle, so why does the wellness industry have such an expensive reputation? Is health and wellness a privilege ? If you are living on a tight budget, balancing a busy life, working full time and raising kids, all at the same time, then perhaps rooftop yoga and making super juices could be at the bottom of your to-do list. As a nation that is obsessed with diets and exercise, apparently, we are spending thousands of pounds each year on ‘being fit’. However, some of the healthiest countries in the world are not the richest, so do we need to spend a lot to stay in shape? The stats show that the residents of Sweden are some of the healthiest and happiest people on earth. They have a good work/life balance and are expected …

Ladies That Lift!

Ladies, if you’ve never used weights in your workout before, then here’s 3 reasons why you should! 1. Lifting weights doesn’t mean that you will suddenly develop bulging biceps, but it will help you to tone up, burn more calories and feel great! Many women focus on cardio to burn calories, but adding weights to your workout is the real secret to blasting body fat. Even after a weights workout, you will continue to burn calories as your muscle fibres repair. 2. Strength training is good for your mind as well as your body. It can reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. It feels good to work up a sweat. All those endorphins will help you to keep your cool post workout! 3. It could even make you smarter! Research shows that resistance training boosts brain function. It will improve your co-ordination, memory, and increase your attention span. [Smarty pants!] I recommend adding dumbells or a kettlebell to your workout twice a week. There are so many simple moves that you can do to tone …
