#InShapeMyShape

Today is the launch of a new Women’s Health magazine campaign, #InShapeMyShape. This months cover star Caroline Flack is inviting you to love your body and embrace your shape. Come on ladies, we all have parts of our body that we complain about but how oftern to you celebrate your body? Probably not often enough. Personally, it’s taken me a long time to be completely happy with my body shape. My body is natural very straight, my hips are narrow and I’ve always had a athletic shape. In fact when I was younger I had a similar silhouette to Mowgli from the Jungle Book 🙂 I’ve always looked enviously at women with hips like Beyonce. Curvy women look so feminine and sexy! As I grew up, I accepted my body shape but I probably never really loved my body until . . . I became pregnant! I know that many women say that they dread pregnancy, as they fear that it will ‘destroy’ their bodies beyond repair. Well, I’ve got good news ladies, your body …

What A Year !

Wow . . . I can’t really believe that I started writing this blog one year ago. It was the first thing that I wrote on my 2015 To-Do list. When I sat down and started to create this blog, I didn’t really have any expectations or specific ambitions in mind. I just wanted to share my passion for fitness and to hopefully inspire other women to be more active too. Throughout the year I began to find other people that shared my love for running, yoga and neon trainers! I’ve met some inspiring people, worked with some of my favourite brands and had a lot of fun, laughs and sweat along the way. Here are some of the highlights of my fitness blog so far . . . I started the year with four new personal training clients, each of them had very different goals. I’m always mega excited to meet a new client and to create a plan for them. People decide to work with a personal trainer for lots of different reasons, …

Workout Hairstyles with Aveda & Women’s Health.

Earlier this week, I was invited to join the online team at Womens Health magazine at the Aveda Institute in London. I am a huge fan of WH magazine, so I was really happy when they got in touch with me, after discovering my workout pics on instagram. The Aveda Institute is gorgeous! I arrived a few minutes early, so I had time to grab one of their delicious green juices. It felt like a welcome and relaxing escape after a busy morning in London. The Womens Health team are creating video hair tutorials, that will feature workout hairstyles to take you from, fitness studio, to street look, in minutes. As a women with Afro hair, I often feel that there is very little diversity within the mainstream hair & beauty industry. Many fashion magazines have beauty features, that only show white women with straight hair. I recently went to Topshop on Oxford Street to visit the ‘Hershesons Braid Bar’. I wanted to get my hair braided as I had an hour to spare before meeting …

Training with Alexandra – Part 4

Session 5 I’ve been on holiday for a week in France and managed to stay healthy and do a short jog each day, which was quite tough in extreme heat even in the early hours, even managed a one hour row down the Dordogne which was lovely and was slightly over joyed that my arms didn’t ache like mad the next day! Adrienne came this morning over and I was feeling super sluggish, that typical after holiday – don’t have the will to do anything plus a persistent headache. This session certainly felt like session one again – reminder: I CANT DO THIS, HELP! Nonetheless, I got through it and felt better afterwards and am sure that next session I will be rocking and rolling again. One things for sure is that my body is definitely changing and I like what I’m seeing, so I’m going to endure every moment and get to my finishing point ! Session 6 I really enjoyed today’s session even if I was feeling a bit off colour, but as …

Equinox Gym – Kensington

Earlier this week I was invited by the wonderful Mothers Meetings, to the Equinox Fitness club in Kensington. . .  We got to try out one of the clubs most popular classes, ‘Whipped‘! A strength/cardio training class, that uses body bars, ropes & weights. Our workout was lead by the amazing Rory Knight, us Mama’s were soon working up a sweat in their super fancy fitness studio. The gym also offers a crèche for the kiddies, and they give you a pager just incase you’re needed. Many Mummies say that they struggle to find the time, or even the energy, to exercise after having kids. After a busy day of feeds, changes, tantrums, &  school runs etc, it can be hard to motivate yourself to grab them trainers and do a work out. Even when you do decide to go to an exercise class, you feel guilty for leaving the kids for a couple of hours. We all need to have some time to ourselves and exercising is so important, not just for our bodies …
