My Winter Skincare Routine

Over the last few years I’ve tried a ton of different skin care routines, and I’ve figured out exactly what works for my skin. During the winter months I know that I need to hydrate my skin as much as possible. Running outside in the cold in the morning and spending time indoors with heating on, can really dry my skin out, so here are my golden rules when it comes to winter skin care… Oil is your friend and it will NOT cause breakouts! I used to be afraid to put oil on my skin because I thought it would make my skin oily and cause spots. Ironically it has the exact opposite effect. In fact, using oil on my skin has been SO good for it. I use natural oils, like coconut oil and macadamia nut oil every night during winter. Apparently it’s anti ageing too! (FYI I did get asked for ID over Christmas, when buying red wine in Sainsbury’s, so maybe it’s because of the coconut oil! hahah) The best way …

Cosmo Influencer Awards 2018

Last night I arrived at Kensington Palace Gardens to attend the Cosmopolitan Influencer of the Year Awards. I was nominated for the ‘Best Health & Wellbeing’ award. The invitation said ‘dress to impress’ so I thought I’d better swap my running shoes for something a bit more glamorous. Suit & shoes from Topshop.  The room was filled with so many inspiring & creative people, I was so happy to be included and to be nominated. Some of my favourite internet change makers and girl bosses were there too, including Emma Gannon, who is literally adored by everyone that she meets. Chidera Eggerue, aka the Slumflower, a young woman that is making waves, everywhere she goes. Alice Liveing, she is small but mighty! and is just full of good energy. Oh, and I was seated next to my favourite fashionista DJ duo, the Collyer Twins. Not you’re average Thursday night! There were eight ladies nominated for the Heath & Wellness award, so I was absolutely buzzing! (and mega shocked) when the Editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan, Farrah Storr, …

Get Fit For Free !

Often there is an assumption that living well costs a lot. Weekly pilates classes, super food salads and organic face oils all come with a price tag. Of course we don’t have to spend a lot of cash to live a healthy lifestyle, so why does the wellness industry have such an expensive reputation? Is health and wellness a privilege ? If you are living on a tight budget, balancing a busy life, working full time and raising kids, all at the same time, then perhaps rooftop yoga and making super juices could be at the bottom of your to-do list. As a nation that is obsessed with diets and exercise, apparently, we are spending thousands of pounds each year on ‘being fit’. However, some of the healthiest countries in the world are not the richest, so do we need to spend a lot to stay in shape? The stats show that the residents of Sweden are some of the healthiest and happiest people on earth. They have a good work/life balance and are expected …

Birchbox May 2015 ‘Free Your Mind’

Whilst I was out shopping recently, a sales assistant at a beauty counter asked me if I needed any help. I was looking a little dazed and confused at the huge amount of beauty lotions and potions on offer. She then asked me what my current skin care regime was and what products I liked to use. To be honest, my skin care regime is pretty basic & I share the bathroom each morning with a 3 year old and his dinosaurs. I felt a little overwhelmed by the amount of products that this lady claimed to be ‘essentials’. I ended up leaving the shop with the same Clinique bronzer that I have been buying for the last four years. Later that week I met up with a friend and she introduced me to Birchbox. I’m sure that you have probably heard of Birchbox before but if like me, you’re a little late to the party, then here’s what you need to know. Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription service. Your box will include beauty, skin care …
