#CrossTheLine

So, when it comes to running, I’ve discovered that 10k is the perfect race distance for me. I’m totally amazed by marathon runners, I admire their dedication because I know the training is not only time consuming but also mega tough on the body. I don’t know if I’d ever be able to complete a marathon and I think I would just hate the training. I always tell people that when it comes to fitness you should do what you love. I enjoy running shorter speedy races, 10k races are perfect for me. This weekend I’ll be racing again, here’s how I’m preparing to cross the finish line. FUEL Pre race fuel is mega important, I will be starting the day with porridge and a banana and date smoothie. I’ll start increasing my water intake the day before the race and on the way to the race I’ll grab a Bounce ball or Nakd bar as well. TRAINING I know it sounds boring but consistency is key! I’ve been running longer slow steady runs as …

Get your 5K a day!

Up for a challenge? This summer I’ll be running 5K everyday throughout August. I’m currently reading a book about habits, apparently it is human nature to constantly repeat things that we do each day, both good and bad. (oh hey Nutella) Personally, I think that I have quite an addictive personality, I never do anything 50% I’m all or nothing. Whilst reading the book I have been thinking about my own habits and I am attempting to make some new ones. So, I thought I’d challenge myself and anyone else that wants to join me, to run 5K each day for a month. I have seen lots of different run challenges online, but I feel like 5K is a realistic distance for me to do everyday. I enjoy running in the morning so I’ll probably do most of my runs before breakfast. To make it more fun I will be inviting lots of friends to get involved and you can easily join/share the challenge online by using hashtag #5Kaday and your own name e.g. #adrienne5Kaday …

Let’s talk about CONFIDENCE.

This weekend I was invited to do a talk at a fitness event in London called ‘Fitflunce’. The team at Fitfluence host monthly events that include active workouts as well as delicious healthy food, lead by a panel of industry pros. Previously Fitfluence sessions have been lead by Alice Liveing aka @clean_eating_alice, Em Fury @EmFurey, Annie Clarke @mind_body_bowl and many more leading women in the fitness industry. I was very honoured to be asked to speak at the April event. I’m very passionate about women’s health and fitness and anyone who’s ever met me will probably tell you that I talk a lot! 🙂 I wanted to share my ideas about confidence, how I have become more confident myself and also how I try to build confidence with my clients. Here’s a little bit of what I had to say . . . Over the last 5 years, I have had the opportunity to work with lots of different women. I have lead fitness classes and bootcamps as well as training with clients one to one. Spending …

#WHYIRUNLDN

It’s marathon week! This Sunday over 38,000 runners will hit the road and race through London to complete the London marathon. The route starts in Blackheath, runners will make their way through the city, passing some of London’s most iconic landmarks and finishing at The Mall. The 26.2 mile race will be televised to 196 countries around the world and so far the annual event has raised over £500 million for charity so far. Wow! So, what is it that makes the London marathon so special? There are hundreds of marathons held across the world each year but London is the one that runners dream of completing. I love running in London, the city is full of energy! Every year when I watch the marathon, it inspires me to get out and run. I’m very tempted to enter the ballot this year, although it’s probably worth noting that so far my longest ever run is 10 miles. I’m not sure that my body or my mind is built for marathon running. I naturally run quite fast …

#YouVsYear

Runners, keep on running . . . but if you haven’t signed up to the YouVsYear run challenge yet, don’t worry it’s not too late. Under Armour is hosting a year long digital run challenge, YouVsYear. The challenge is to run 1000km in 2016! I’ve never tracked my runs for a whole year before but initially I thought it sounded like a huge amount! Let’s break it down . . . 1000k in one year That’s 83.3km each month 19.2km each week Or 2.7km each day. Okay, that sounds like something that I could do and I’m not one to say no to a challenge. However it’s March now, so I’ve got some catching up to do! I signed up to the challenge on the Endomondo app on Sunday and so far I’m clocked 25k. I ran 8k on Sunday, 7km on Monday and 10k on Thursday. I’m going to try and do a few longer runs on Sunday mornings to help make up the miles. I’m mega excited to be taking part in this …

Every Second Counts

This weeks Sports Style features activewear from Every Second Counts. Every Second Counts is the perfect place to shop for all of your workout wear and athleisure essentials. Apparently, the days of running in a baggy old t-shirt are long gone. For many fashion conscious women, activewear is a great way to add more colour and fun into your wardrobe. I often see Mums dressed in their fit kit when dropping the kids off at school. (BTW, no one really knows if you are going to a Pilates class or if you’re going back home to watch the Kardashians.) Personally, I am usually wearing trainers on the school run as I’m trying to keep up with my son on his scooter.  I love this matching ‘Make it Happen’ top & leggings. The black and white print is bold, without being too loud. The crop and the fit of this top is really flattering and it’s great to find a crop top with long sleeves as we patiently wait for warmer weather to arrive. Head to Every Second Counts …

Adidas pureBOOSTX

A girl can never have too many pairs of shoes, especially when it comes to running shoes! I’ve been a huge fan of Adidas ‘UltraBoosts’ ever since September last year, when my husband bought me a pair for my birthday. I had previously heard a lot of hype about them, so I couldn’t wait to take them out for a test run! Since then, I have run over 90 miles in my UltraBoosts! They are MEGA! Last week I was invited to the launch of Adidas’s latest running shoe, designed specifically for women, the pureBOOSTX. Adidas have teamed up with female athletes from around the world to create this unique running shoe. My first impressions . . . the pureBOOSTX looks great. The design is sleek and petite, the perfect addition to a fashion forward gym kit. The foam sole of the shoe is similar to the ultraboost, they provide a great cushion and bounce. The fit feels tight but flexible, the mesh material literally hugs your feet. Once we were all laced up, we …

What A Year !

Wow . . . I can’t really believe that I started writing this blog one year ago. It was the first thing that I wrote on my 2015 To-Do list. When I sat down and started to create this blog, I didn’t really have any expectations or specific ambitions in mind. I just wanted to share my passion for fitness and to hopefully inspire other women to be more active too. Throughout the year I began to find other people that shared my love for running, yoga and neon trainers! I’ve met some inspiring people, worked with some of my favourite brands and had a lot of fun, laughs and sweat along the way. Here are some of the highlights of my fitness blog so far . . . I started the year with four new personal training clients, each of them had very different goals. I’m always mega excited to meet a new client and to create a plan for them. People decide to work with a personal trainer for lots of different reasons, …

Gearing Up for Winter

It may be grey out there but that’s no reason to skip your workout. If you need a little boost to get you out the door, here are my top tips for winter training. Get The Gear! Making sure you have the right kit for winter training is essential! You don’t have to spend a lot on a whole new wardrobe, a few accessories might be all you need. Go for bright colours if you’re a road runner. I don’t think anyone will miss me in this gorgeous yellow run top from Sweaty Betty. Challenge yourself. Set yourself a challenge each month or sign up to a race. I am running the Vitality 10k WestRun in a few weeks. Having a race on your calendar definitely motivates you to lace up. Invite your friends to sign up too or at least get them to come along on the day to cheer you on! Be Prepared. Let’s be honest, the great british weather can be a little unpredictable. If you wake up to rain and you …
