Adidas pureBOOSTX 5K run.

Last night I led a run through East London to road test the adidas red pureBOOSTX shoes. The shoes are designed specifically for women’s feet, I’ve been running in them for a month for my 5K a day run challenge, PBX are my new favourite footwear! The ladies arrived at 6pm and swapped their kicks for a pair of PBX. After a quick warm up, we were ready to run. Our 5k route took us from Shoreditch, towards Monument, passed the Museum of London, through Old Street and back to the Virgin London Marathon Sweatshop store. If you’re a London road runner, then you get used to navigating the traffic and dodging commuters. I love running though the city and it’s way more fun to join a group than to go solo. If you want to join me next week to workout and run in the PBX shoes, keep your eyes on my instagram – @adriennetmm. I’ll be posting the info and link to the tickets on Monday. Thanks for having me adidasuk. I can’t …

The Artist

Here is a video created by Microsoft to showcase their belief that people of action, creators, innovators, are everyday people like myself and digital artist Roz Hall. As a trainer, I am always looking for new ways to challenge myself and my clients. It’s great to be able to track your own progress and it’s hugely motivating when you achieve your goal. Personally, using tech is changing the way that I train, as I have so much more information to help me to design my training schedule. I really loved working on this project, it was amazing to see Roz sharing his passion for digital art. He drew a portrait of me on the Surace Pro 4. I never saw any of the portrait until yesterday when I watched this video for the first time. It’s incredible to see how other people are using tech to be creative. Technology is adapting to suit our busy lives. The world is constantly creating and sharing new content and new ideas. The Surface makes it really easy to work …

Sardinia

As a family of three, this year was our third visit to the beautiful island of Sardinia. The Italian lifestyle is so good for your soul! We spent a week enjoying the sunshine, delicious food and beautiful beaches. We explored the old town on foot as well as hiring bikes for a day. We discovered the local delis, markets and of course the most amazing gelato shops! There are so many reasons to add Sardinia to your travel hit list, here are some of our favourites . . . Tre Archi Pizzeria Italy is of course home to the most loved food in the world . . . Pizza! There are literally pizzerias on every street in Sardinia but head to Tre Archi for an authentic homemade slice of cheesy heaven. There’s football on the TV and red wine on every table. A huge pizza will cost you just €8! Note – Like many restaurants in Sardinia, Tre Archi doesn’t open until 8pm in the evening. We usually eat dinner around 6pm at home, so …

#YouVsYear

Runners, keep on running . . . but if you haven’t signed up to the YouVsYear run challenge yet, don’t worry it’s not too late. Under Armour is hosting a year long digital run challenge, YouVsYear. The challenge is to run 1000km in 2016! I’ve never tracked my runs for a whole year before but initially I thought it sounded like a huge amount! Let’s break it down . . . 1000k in one year That’s 83.3km each month 19.2km each week Or 2.7km each day. Okay, that sounds like something that I could do and I’m not one to say no to a challenge. However it’s March now, so I’ve got some catching up to do! I signed up to the challenge on the Endomondo app on Sunday and so far I’m clocked 25k. I ran 8k on Sunday, 7km on Monday and 10k on Thursday. I’m going to try and do a few longer runs on Sunday mornings to help make up the miles. I’m mega excited to be taking part in this …

Vitality 10K West Run London

Last weekend I completed the Vitality 10k race! After a busy week of teaching classes, personal training and a cross fit challenge, my body was feeling really tired, not the most ideal preparation for a race. However, I arrived in Fulham feeling super excited as I made my way through the park, towards the start line. I had planned to run the race with my friend Hayley. We may have under estimated how many people were taking part in this race, I tried to look for Hayley in a the sea of 5 thousand runners! Unfortunately we weren’t able to find each other, so with just a few mins to spare I shuffled into the crowd, near the front. I spotted a pacer with a huge yellow flag for runners that wanted to complete the race in 45.00 minutes, I made a last minute decision to try and stick with him. Here’s a brief account of the monologue that was going on in my head as I hit the streets of West London. 1k – Okay, …

#My Sports Philosophy

The health & fitness industry has never been so popular! These days it seems like we are all spending more time working out, and spending more cash on fancy leggings and healthy cookbooks. We have calorie counting apps, activity trackers, fitness classes, running clubs, etc. Living a healthy, active lifestyle is now easier than ever. Our increased awareness of health & fitness can of course, have both a positive & a negative effect. Many brands encourage us to question what we are eating & how active we are each day. For example buying food products that are ‘wheat free’ or ‘gluten free’, it is unnecessary to eliminate gluten from your diet if you are not in fact intolerant to gluten. Often the message of ‘health & fitness’ can be very contradictory. Brands will use language and images to shame women into feeling bad about their bodies or to spend money on products, teas, books & clothes that promise to make us feel & look amazing! Many restrictive diets and extreme exercise regimes, are in fact, …
