JUNE.17 It’s been a busy couple of weeks, here’s what’s been keeping me busy… LIVE CHAT I started the month by hosting a week of live chats on Instagram. Each morning I logged in at 6.45am to share a message of morning motivation. It was pretty cool to answer questions and also to see people logging in from all over the world. If you missed the chats you can read more about it here. Motivating and encouraging people is something that I love and I really want to do more of… watch this space. NYC I packed my bags and flew to NYC with team adidas! It was an incredible trip, we were invited to run alongside 500 runners to raise awareness for a great cause. To save our oceans from plastic pollution. Since coming back home, I’ve been making a huge effort to reduce my use of plastic and to reuse or recycle absolutely everything! Read more about the NYC trip here.  RUNNING Over the last four weeks my running has been very inconsistent. Ever …

Bootcamp and Breakfast

Last week I was invited to ‘Bootcamp and Brunch’ at The Wellesley Knightsbridge, a Luxury Collection Hotel, London, with personal trainer Matt Roberts. What a fab way to start the week! I arrived on Sunday evening ahead of the early morning bootcamp. The hotel is absolutely stunning, I stayed in the first floor suite which overlooks London’s Hyde Park. SO nice! Now that is what I call, a room with a view! Morning Miles … 7am. We met Matt in the hotel lounge and we had a brief chat to share our current health and fitness goals. Matt explained the structure of the workout as well as discussing the different training methods that he uses with his clients and at his fitness retreats. Firstly, we laced up and set off to the park for a 5K run. Running before breakfast was a little bit different to what I’m used to. Especially as I training for the marathon earlier this year. Matt encourages fasted cardio in the morning as a tool to aid weight loss. (Personally, my …

Beat the January Blues…5 Ways to Get Fit in London

It’s already the second week in January! Apparently the third week of the month (Monday 16th to be specific) is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. Yikes! That’s when lots of people quit their new resolutions, the weather is grey and cold and everyone realises that they have about £15 to last until payday. Well, I’m an eternal optimist, whatever day it is. So, if you’re looking to boost your mood this month, do some exercise, sweat out that stress and get high on endorphins! Here are a few of my top picks for training in London… Running – There are loads of beautiful places to run in London, it’s the best way to see the city. If you’re looking for a fun crew to join then check out the London Midnight Runners. As the name suggests they are a night running crew. If you’re more of a morning person then check out LDN Bruch Club or Adidas Runners London. HIIT – For a mega tough HIIT workout check out F45. …

Winter Workout X Stylist Magazine.

Earlier this year I teamed up with Stylist magazine to share my top tips for winter training. It can be hard to motivate yourself when it’s grey and cold outside, here’s how I’m planning to keep on track. Take Time For You – We all have mega busy lives. Don’t let work, kids, and other commitments stop you from training. Going out for a run or an hour yoga class may be the only hour of the day that you’re doing something for yourself. Make it a priority, you’ll feel happier and more energised when you return. Make Fitness Fit – Make fitness a part of your everyday lifestyle, instead of another thing on your to-do lis. For example – Walk, rather than drive the kids to school and if they have scooters, put on your trainers and jog along side them.  That Feeling – One of the best things about HIIT is the feeling that you get afterwards. It really boosts your mood. Winter can make us feel sleepy and lethargic , but HIIT …

Adidas pureBOOSTX 5K run.

Last night I led a run through East London to road test the adidas red pureBOOSTX shoes. The shoes are designed specifically for women’s feet, I’ve been running in them for a month for my 5K a day run challenge, PBX are my new favourite footwear! The ladies arrived at 6pm and swapped their kicks for a pair of PBX. After a quick warm up, we were ready to run. Our 5k route took us from Shoreditch, towards Monument, passed the Museum of London, through Old Street and back to the Virgin London Marathon Sweatshop store. If you’re a London road runner, then you get used to navigating the traffic and dodging commuters. I love running though the city and it’s way more fun to join a group than to go solo. If you want to join me next week to workout and run in the PBX shoes, keep your eyes on my instagram – @adriennetmm. I’ll be posting the info and link to the tickets on Monday. Thanks for having me adidasuk. I can’t …

The Pack – Virgin Active

Last week I was invited to join ‘The Pack’ spin class at Virgin Active. A 60 minute class where three teams compete in four mega tough challenges. The class is super fun and really brings out your competitive spirit! I was the pack leader for the fitness family team. I was joined by bloggers Hannah and Emily (Twice the Health), Tara (OnThatFlex), Mummy blog royalty Anna Whitehouse (Mother Pukka), Shakira Akabusi (StrongLikeMum), Danielle Linton (KeepItSimpELLE) & Fabianne (TheFashionNutritionist). What a team! Remember, us Mama’s have been through the toughest workout on earth, LABOUR! Our challengers. . . The blue team was lead by gorgeous TV presenter and DJ, AJ Odudu. The yellow team was lead by John Robertson, founder of The Everyday Man. During the class you can see your team on a big screen at the front of the studio. It doesn’t show individual efforts but instead a pink, yellow and blue symbol shows you which of the teams is leading in each of the challenges. I definitely worked harder than I would in …

The Colour Run London

Sunday 12th June . . . I arrived at Wembley Stadium beneath a sky of grey clouds. I am an eternal optimist and so of course I had my sunglasses ready in anticipation. The Colour Run is titled the ‘Happiest 5K on the planet’, as we warmed up and danced our way to the start line, the sun broke through and everyone was looking very happy indeed. The race pack contains face paints and transfer tattoos so you can get your war paint on in prep for the race. As you make your way along the 5K course, there are 5 different colour stations. You can see a cloud of colour as you approach and there are people standing on either side to ensure that you get a good splatter of rainbow dust as you run though. The course was very busy with lots of people and children too. It’s not the kind of race for running a new PB, it’s just for fun. The next run will be at the O2 on Sunday 4th …

#WHYIRUNLDN

It’s marathon week! This Sunday over 38,000 runners will hit the road and race through London to complete the London marathon. The route starts in Blackheath, runners will make their way through the city, passing some of London’s most iconic landmarks and finishing at The Mall. The 26.2 mile race will be televised to 196 countries around the world and so far the annual event has raised over £500 million for charity so far. Wow! So, what is it that makes the London marathon so special? There are hundreds of marathons held across the world each year but London is the one that runners dream of completing. I love running in London, the city is full of energy! Every year when I watch the marathon, it inspires me to get out and run. I’m very tempted to enter the ballot this year, although it’s probably worth noting that so far my longest ever run is 10 miles. I’m not sure that my body or my mind is built for marathon running. I naturally run quite fast …
