Jude’s Pancakes

This morning Jude and I made pancakes for breakfast. Like most four year olds, Jude has his favourite dishes but I try and encourage him to eat a variety of different things. He loves helping me in the kitchen and I love watching him discover new foods. Recently, I’ve noticed that Jude has become more aware of what he’s eating. (more fussy!) For examples, I’ve always used fresh basil in our pasta sauce and after almost three years of eating it, Jude has started to pick out tiny pieces of basil and push them to the side of his plate. I’ve asked Jude to help me to make some of his favourite meals, in the hope that he might try some new foods. If nothing else, I’m sure that he’ll enjoy making lots of mess! Go Bananas!

Bananas are awesome! There is a long list of super health benefits to eating bananas, I won’t bore you by listing them all. (Google it) If you want to do just one thing this week, to be more healthy, simply have a banana! They are an easy snack to grab on the go, they’re cheap, and if you don’t like the taste, blend em up in a smoothie, or bake them in a cake, there’s no excuse. It’s not always easy to get kids to eat all the good stuff but bananas are a great place to start. I add half a mashed banana to my sons porridge in the mornings. Bananas are great for breakfast as they contain slow releasing carbs. I know that carbs have a bad reputation these days, but we really do need them.
