Back To Basics

As a lover of fashion and all things stylish, I often find myself standing in my bedroom, staring at my wardrobe feeling unimpressed and frustrated. First world problems, I know. Like so many women, I actually have far too many clothes, shoes, coats and bags to even fit into a wardrobe! I have different cloths for different occasions/seasons/moods etc, an eclectic mix of denim shirts, tailored trousers, pleated skirts, logo jumpers and way to many navy and striped t-shirts. Not to mention those items that I never wear but still love too much to throw out. It’s a mess! Every so often I sort through the rails and I donate any unwanted clothes to the local clothes bank or charity shop. I can be pretty ruthless once I get going but I still end up in the same situation a few months later, and yet ‘I have nothing to wear!’ Okay so it’s Saturday morning, it’s an hour before we are supposed to be leaving the house, I’m standing in our bedroom semi nude with a …

#LFW 17

So, I haven’t posted an outfit post in absolutely ages!! Lately my life has been taken over by running and run chat. [Yeah, training for a marathon will do that.] So, I was mega happy to receive an invitation to this years Charli Cohen show at London Fashion Week. It was the perfect excuse to hang out with my girl friends, go to some fun blogger events and of course pap that #ootd . . .  Photos by @redagencylondon FYI I definitely didn’t need to wear these sunnies as it’s February. Come on spring, we’re all ready for you! Initially, I thought I may have gone a little OTT with the big coat, big hair + sunglasses combo, but then I thought hey it’s LFW! Too much? Never.Outfit. Okay January, let’s do this! Fitness is in fashion and I’ve teamed up with New Look to showcase their brand new activewear range! New Look’s new sports collection includes both gym essentials and stylish basics for that post work out chill. The block colours are bold and they’re mega easy to mix & match. I filmed a video along side two of my fit gal pals, AJ & Kimmy. We had so much fun at the shoot! AJ is so full of energy, she’s an awesome workout buddy as well as being absolutely hilarious. As for Kimmy, she is SO strong! Don’t be deceived by the blonde hair and cute smile, she’ll whip your butt in the gym. The collection is very affordable so it’s the perfect way to freshen up your fit kit without spending a small fortune. My personal favourites pieces were the run jacket and T-shirt. (featured above) You can shop the collection now over at http://www.newlook.com Meet you at the gym!

Athleisure . . . Fitness is in Fashion.

I was recently invited to a talk about ‘Athleisure’ & sporty style, hosted by ELLE magazine and MATCHESFASHION. ELLE’s senior fashion editor, Michelle Duguid, spoke about fit kit wardrobe essentials, the newest activewear brands and how to smarten up a sporty look. Music to my ears! FYI It’s officially acceptable to wear trainers with everything! (Michelle said so) Here are my top five sporty style rules . . . Mix and Match. Add a sporty jacket or jumper to your smart suit trousers. You can’t really go wrong with a great pair of classic black trousers right? Big Logo Love. Many sports brands use big logos as their signature. 90’s faves like FILA & ELLESSE are making a come back. Yippeee! Fresh Kicks. It may be acceptable to wear trainers with every outfit but make sure that they are clean. Sweaty running shoes are not the one. Layer It Up. It’s a kind of awkward moment between Summer and Autumn, layering looks good but it also means you’re prepared whatever the weather. Wear What You Want. …

Sweaty Betty – The Contour Leggings

I was recently quoted in Women’s Health magazine saying ‘Life’s too short for boring black leggings’. Well, Sweaty Betty must have got the memo! These fire print leggings are anything but boring. I met up with the SB team to showcase three ways to style the leggings from street to sport. First up, I’ve teamed the leggings with a black biker jacket, backpack and grey vest top. The leggings are loud, the darker colours add a contrast. As you can see from the above photo, the high visibility will also ensure that you are safe when posing in the middle of the road! Very important.          Next up, a denim dress and pumps. When it’s hot in London, it usually only lasts for about one week so make the most of it! Go on, be brave, crop tops are making a come back! Last but not least. Mum on the run! A Beyonce playlist will help you feel awesome when your running in fire print! You can shop the Contour leggings at SweatyBetty Share …

Stella McCartney adidas AW16 Collection.

Today I kickstarted my morning at Another Space gym in London for the launch of the Stella McCartney adidas autumn/ winter 16 collection. We were joined by non other than supermodel MEGA babe Karlie Kloss! If you follow Karlie on snapchat then you’ll know that she is no stranger to the gym. She’s super dedicated and her training looks tough. As a high school student, before becoming a high fashion model, Victoria Secret angel and BFF to Taylor Swift, Karlie was very active and sporty. She attended dance classes, played team sports as well as running and swimming. Karlie is a role model to so many women around the world and now she is the face of the latest Stella campaign. I arrived at the gym at 7am and changed into my new kit. As a lover of both fitness and fashion, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Friday! Our workout was split into two twenty minute classes. A boxing inspired HIIT class, followed by a short spinning session. The studio …

#ELLEfit

As a lover of all things fitness and fashion, I was mega happy to be invited to the ELLE magazine HQ to lead their team on a lunch time workout. I have been an ELLE subscriber for as long as I can remember and I love that ELLE regularly talks about women’s health, fitness and sport. High fashion brands often have a bed reputation when it comes to promoting a ‘healthy’ body image. It’s encouraging to see that the team at ELLE are inspiring women across the world to be healthy, active and to stay fit. Last month I attended a talk hosted by ELLE at Selfridges in London. The panel of incredible women, including Lorraine Candy and Sophie Everard, were discussing sport and how female leaders and role models can encourage the next generation to access and participate in sport. It frustrates me so much that there is still a huge gap in gender equality within sport. Thank you ELLE for waving the flag for us gals! I met the ELLE team at their …

Every Second Counts

This weeks Sports Style features activewear from Every Second Counts. Every Second Counts is the perfect place to shop for all of your workout wear and athleisure essentials. Apparently, the days of running in a baggy old t-shirt are long gone. For many fashion conscious women, activewear is a great way to add more colour and fun into your wardrobe. I often see Mums dressed in their fit kit when dropping the kids off at school. (BTW, no one really knows if you are going to a Pilates class or if you’re going back home to watch the Kardashians.) Personally, I am usually wearing trainers on the school run as I’m trying to keep up with my son on his scooter.  I love this matching ‘Make it Happen’ top & leggings. The black and white print is bold, without being too loud. The crop and the fit of this top is really flattering and it’s great to find a crop top with long sleeves as we patiently wait for warmer weather to arrive. Head to Every Second Counts …
