My Winter Skincare Routine

Over the last few years I’ve tried a ton of different skin care routines, and I’ve figured out exactly what works for my skin. During the winter months I know that I need to hydrate my skin as much as possible. Running outside in the cold in the morning and spending time indoors with heating on, can really dry my skin out, so here are my golden rules when it comes to winter skin care… Oil is your friend and it will NOT cause breakouts! I used to be afraid to put oil on my skin because I thought it would make my skin oily and cause spots. Ironically it has the exact opposite effect. In fact, using oil on my skin has been SO good for it. I use natural oils, like coconut oil and macadamia nut oil every night during winter. Apparently it’s anti ageing too! (FYI I did get asked for ID over Christmas, when buying red wine in Sainsbury’s, so maybe it’s because of the coconut oil! hahah) The best way …

Could You Give Up Coffee?

Are you addicted to coffee? Many people confess to being addicted to their daily caffeine fix. They drink one or two cups of coffee every single day and to be honest, most people are genuinely shocked when I tell them that I don’t drink coffee.

Power Hour

What is the power hour? Why am I obsessed with talking about it? If you follow me on social media, then you’ll know that I get up early everyday and that the first hour of each day is my ‘Power Hour’. Over the last twelve months, I’ve hosted a series of talks at live events, conferences and festivals. I’m constantly talking about the ‘Power Hour’ and the dramatic impact that it has had on own life. Recently, other people have started to email me or direct message me on Instagram, to tell me how the ‘Power Hour’ has changed their lives too. So, first up, what is the ‘Power Hour’? The Power Hour is the first hour that you are awake each day. What you do with that time is completely up to you, but I believe that is the most powerful hour of the day and that it has the potential to set up the rest of your day for either success or failure. We now live in a world that is completely overwhelming …

Skincare Travel Tips

You know that feeling, when you’ve been on an air conditioned plane for eleven hours, and your face feel like a dried fruit! If you’ve landed somewhere hot, you’ll  need to use sun cream and then you get a breakout, just in time for your first holiday selfie! I’m thirty years old, surly I’ve had my lifetime number of spots already! After a lot of trial and error, I’ve got my routine down…

Get Happy #Mental Health Awareness Week

What do you really want? Okay, so that is the most vague question ever and I’m sure that you could write a very long list of things. I’m taking about the most fundamental things that you want in your life that will make you feel happy and fulfilled. If you’ve never really thought about it then maybe that’s a good place to start. Once you figure out exactly what you want, you might realise that a, you already have it or b, the reasons that you don’t. The pursuit of happiness … I often fall into the trap of seeing beautiful travel imagery on blogs and on social media and wishing that I was traveling more. So many of my friends are creative entrepreneurs and many of them travel for both work and adventure. It’s very easy to scroll through photos of city breaks, yoga retreats and mountain views and to feel like I’m missing out because I’m not sailing around the world. Literally! However, the reality, is that traveling isn’t really what I want. …

Who I Follow on Social Media and Why …

I recently listened to a fascinating podcast about social media. The hosts were discussing mental health and how the use of social media can impact us both positively and negatively. They looked at studies, most of which were targeted to Facebook users, that questioned how often people used social media and how this affected them emotionally. Head over to Spotify and search ‘Stuff To Blow Your Mind – Is Social Media Driving Us Insane?’ to listen to the podcast for yourself. Okay, so we may have created some unhealthy habits when it comes to social media but there is also a huge amount of good stuff happening online too! Of course everyone’s personal experience is very different but here’s how I see it… Unlike other forms of media, like TV, radio and magazines, our social media channels are created by us. We choose who to follow, what to watch and who to engage with. We curate our own news by selecting who and what we want to see. You can find a specific community of …

Winter Wellness with Garnier

Okay let’s be honest, it is absolutely freezing at the moment and the temptation to stay indoors and hibernate is overwhelming! But, if you know me, then you’ll know that I can’t sit still for very long. I am training more than ever right now as this year I am running my first ever marathon! It’s only 14 weeks away so whatever the weather, I’ve got to get out there! Winter training definitely has it’s challenges and so I’m doing my best to look after my body, both outside and in. Another first for me this year, is to try a real skincare regime. My previous skin care routine was pretty basic. Wash my face, dry my face, moisturise and dust on a bit of bronzer. I’m not sure how I’ve manage to get away with this for quite so long! Seriously my bathroom skin care shelf was pretty pathetic. Well not any more, this year I am going to get in the know! So, firstly I’ve teamed up with Garnier. They kindly sent me …

Winter Wellness

Winter has a bad reputation when it comes to health & wellness. There’s less daylight each day so we spend less time outside, and more time snuggled up on the couch with Netflix and a jar of Nutella. (maybe that’s just me!) The lack of sunshine not only affects how active we are but also has huge effect on our mood too. Most of us over indulge at Christmas time on festive foods, Prosecco and endless amounts of chocolate. Then the New Year starts and we’re hibernate in chunky knitwear, searching online for flights to the sun, and it seems even colder at home without the Christmas tree lights. Okay, so it might not seem like the most inspiring time of the year but as an eternal optimist, here is my guide to feeling great this winter. Resolutions – It’s February, time to revisit those resolutions. Be positive! Instead of making a list of things that you’re going to give up, instead create a list of things that you ARE going to do. Are You Obsessed with the Internet ?

How much time do you spend each day ‘online’ ? Reading emails, tweets, instagram etc ? Are you online obsessed ? I’m guessing that most of us would probably say no, who would admit to being enslaved to the internet to such an extent, that it is titled an ‘obsession’! Well, apparently we are. I recently read an article about an app that monitors how often people use their phones, and for how long each day. It stated that the average person checks their phone 9 times per hour and over 100 times per day. We are obsessed! Personally, I know I am guilty of scrolling through instagram at all hours of the day. In the car, in the bath and even though I know it’s terrible, in bed! I read blogs, I create Pinterest boards and I scroll idly through tweets. Why are we so addicted to being online? Are we using social media for work, for self promotion or just to validate ourselves with a number of likes or retweets? Maybe we’re a bit …
