Keep On Running | Journal from Paperchase

This weekend I received a ‘Keep On Running’ journal from Paperchase, it could not have come at a better time! In less than four weeks, I will begin training for the Berlin Marathon. Last year I completed my first marathon in London and it was tough! I trained for fifteen weeks, a combination of endurance training, hill session, strength / resistance workouts and LOTS of stretching. Throughout my training, I experimented with different ways to fuel before, during and after long runs. This is the part that went wrong on the day, I didn’t take on enough fuel during the first few hours of the race, so I hit the wall at mile 19 and the rest of the race was a struggle. This year I’ve adapted my training plan and I’m meeting with a dietician for advice about fuelling. I’m hope that the second time will be slightly less painful than the first. This time I have a twenty week training plan and I can’t wait to get started! I absolutely love journaling! Every Sunday …

Most frequently asked questions on Instagram.

I get asked quite a few of the same questions each week on Instagram DM, so I thought I’d share some of the most frequently asked questions here… (I also get some very random ones too so I shall I leave them all as anonymous)  Do you workout or run everyday ? No. I usually exercise four times each week, but sometimes it’s three times. My training changes each month but it always includes at least two runs per week. At the moment I run an average of 12 miles each week. (This will increase as I work towards Berlin marathon later this year.) I also do HIIT workouts at home, mostly body weight and resistance band work. It’s really important to have rest days and days off but training for me is a part of my life. It’s a non negotiable. I need it for my mind as much as my body. Which trainers do you recommend for long distance running? Without a doubt, adidas ‘Ultraboost’ are the BEST. I’ve been running in them …

How does she do it?

Now this is a tricky one for me. Does such a thing even exist when you run your own business? and you’re the co-founder of a start up? The line between work and life is very thin for me. Personally, I don’t have a problem with that but I do feel a pressure from other people.

#TheLatest

… I left that event feeling both inspired and empowered and also proud to be a woman. 2018 is an incredible time to be a woman. We have a voice and the world is listening. Let’s make everyday, International women’s day!

Behind The Scenes, adidas Ultraboost Shoot, LA.

In November last year, I flew to LA to shoot the latest adidas running campaign. This campaign also featured GB World Champion sprinter, Nethaneel Blake & South African Olympic runner, Dominique Scott-Erfud. (I did my best to keep up!) I’m so excited to see the campaign this week in stores and online. Yesterday, I woke up to three messages from people that said they had seen my face in a store window! That is totally crazy! Here are a few behind the scenes snaps …  I’m not sure if I’m taking a selfie or chatting to Rob and Jude on FaceTime. *Probably the first one! 😀 Seeking shade and chatting to the photographer Jonathan Mehring.  Touch ups in the hair and make up chair. We started shooting at 5.00am for the sunrise light, so I think I am still waking up in this photo.  Energy From The Ground Up  It’s been 5 years since adidas launched the ultraboost running shoe. ‘BOOST’ is a superior cushioning technology that provides energy return. Skincare Travel Tips

You know that feeling, when you’ve been on an air conditioned plane for eleven hours, and your face feel like a dried fruit! If you’ve landed somewhere hot, you’ll  need to use sun cream and then you get a breakout, just in time for your first holiday selfie! I’m thirty years old, surly I’ve had my lifetime number of spots already! After a lot of trial and error, I’ve got my routine down…

Run Your First Mile!

Often when people meet me and they hear me talk about running, they think that I have always been a runner. I love running for so many reasons but trust me, it hasn’t always been easy. Admittedly, I’ve always been athletic and active, but I used to run the 100m and 200m track races, I’m half Jamaican, sprinting is is my blood! The first time I ever went out for a road run, was about nine months after Jude was born. I was wearing a pair of old trainers, my shorts didn’t have a pocket so I was carrying my iPhone in my hand, and I got an agonising stitch about three minutes in. My run turned to a jog and I managed to get through about a a mile and a half. I walked in through the front door and I felt defeated, I thought that maybe running wasn’t for me. I remember at that time, I was on maternity leave and I wanted to get into running because it was free and I …

Cape Town, South Africa

Earlier this month I visited Cape Town for the first time. To be totally honest, I didn’t know very much about South Africa and it wasn’t somewhere that I’d ever considered adding to my travel wish list. A few days before Christmas, I got the confirmation of the shoot dates and location from the adidas running team. We were going to be in Cape Town for five days to film a spring summer running campaign. Excitement overload! 🙂 I mentioned the trip to a few a people and I received two different reactions. Some of the first things I heard were, ‘Oh, be careful, it’s not a safe place to visit!’, the next thing I heard was ‘Oh my gosh, it’s incredible! You will absolutely love it! A lot of places have a reputation of being unsafe for tourists, especially for women, and it can be off putting for sure. As I was traveling with a group I felt assured that it would be fine. Cape Town is a very popular travel destination and like …

Who’s Influencing You?

Take a look at the relationships that occupy the most of your time. These relationships should be balanced, mutual and they should feel good. If you have a toxic relationship that is bringing you down or is always stressing you out, maybe it’s time for a detox.
