I get asked quite a few of the same questions each week on Instagram DM, so I thought I’d share some of the most frequently asked questions here…
(I also get some very random ones too so I shall I leave them all as anonymous)
- Do you workout or run everyday ?
No. I usually exercise four times each week, but sometimes it’s three times. My training changes each month but it always includes at least two runs per week. At the moment I run an average of 12 miles each week. (This will increase as I work towards Berlin marathon later this year.) I also do HIIT workouts at home, mostly body weight and resistance band work.
It’s really important to have rest days and days off but training for me is a part of my life. It’s a non negotiable. I need it for my mind as much as my body. - Which trainers do you recommend for long distance running?
Without a doubt, adidas ‘Ultraboost’ are the BEST. I’ve been running in them for the last three years. (Way before I became an adidas brand ambassador.) - Do you eat meat?
No, not anymore. I stopped eating meat & fish almost two years ago, for lots of different reasons, but mostly environmental. I still miss some of my favourites, like Thai red chicken curry, oh and spicy prawns, YUM! But now I eat plant based and I can honestly say that my skin has never been better, my energy levels are great and I’ve discovered so many amazing new foods & recipes.
To be honest, I get a lot of questions about food and diet but I don’t really share much info about my personal food choices online. Nutrition needs to be specific for our own bodies, training, lifestyle etc. I encourage people to find a diet that works best for them and to chat to a qualified professional if you want nutrition advise. - What do you use on your hair?
This is probably the question that I get asked the most! Whether I post a video about marathon training or I’m talking abou plastic pollution, I still get questions about my hair 🙂 I should probably film a video tutorial of my hair routine but, for now, here are the basics…
– I only wash my hair once every 4/5 days
– I put Argon Oil in my hair the night before I wash it (if I remember)
– Shampoo & Conditioner’s that I love are; Aussie Miracle Moist, Aveda, Be Curly, TRESemme Botanique range.
– I use Organics ‘Hair Mayonnaise’ to style my hair in the morning.
– I sleep with my hair in a pineapple to protect the curls. - What’s on your running playlist?
All of my running & workout playlists are on Spotify, just search – Adrienne Herbert. - You get up so early, what time do you go to bed?
10pm, but 9.45pm is the goal. - Do you ever do a digital detox?
No, I’ve never decided to unplug from the internet for a specific amount of time or done a digital detox. Somedays I’m online a lot, somedays I’m busy with friends and family, and I don’t post any of it on social media. Social media is a huge part of my job, but a lot of my personal life is kept completely offline, so for that reason I’ve never done a strict phone ban. - ‘Hi Adrienne, Do you have an email address?’
Okay, this one is SO ANNOYING! I mean c’mon, it’s 2018 and I am a blogger, of course I have an email address and it’s on Instagram! Below the bio section, above the photos there is a button that says ‘Email’ so why do people DM you to ask you for your email address!! Agrhhhh. Anyway, I always reply politely and say ‘Yes, it’s adriennetmm@gmail.com, Thanks xx’ But one day I might just lose it! haha - How much money do you earn from blogging? (Yes, I’ve been asked this more than once)
Well, blogging is just like any other career. It’s starts off small (aka zero!) then grows over time. Some bloggers are making hundreds of thousands of pounds with brand partnerships and advertising. Most bloggers are not. - ‘How did you become an adidas ambassador?’ and I also get asked ‘Please can you give me an email address for someone at adidas?‘ & ‘Can you get me some free adidas trainers?’
LOLZ! Okay, so no I can’t get you free shoes or give out the email address of the boss lady BUT… I became an ambassador for the brand after working with them on independent projects for about a year. Creating content for social media and leading fitness events etc.
My advise for anyone that wants to partner with a brand is,.. always make sure that the brand aligns with your own beliefs and your personal message. Create content that is meaningful, be consistent and be unique. Working with brands can be great and of course it can bring incredible opportunities but, it’s kinda pointless if you don’t have a message of your own to share. - Which resistance bands do you recommend?
To be honest they all do the same job, if you can, get a pack of three. They usually have a light, medium and heavy band in one pack, so you can use whichever resistance you need. They are usually between £6 -£12 & they are great for mixing up your workout routine. Plus you can pack them in your case if you’re travelling too. - Which podcasts do you listen to?
At the moment I like Lewis Howes, School of Greatness. Oprah Winfrey, Soul Conversations & Run to the Top Podcast with Stephanie Atwood.
So those are my most frequently asked question on Insta. I love Insta stories & DM, it’s great to connect with people from all over the world, after all it is called ‘social’ media. This week I’m gonna start sending a few questions to people via DM myself. If we’re not connected on social, you can find me on Twitter and Insta @adrienne_ldn
